Public Relations Account Executive

Reports to: Carol Schuler – Founder and President of Schuler Publicity

 

Job Overview: With a strong emphasis on media relations, this position requires someone with an outgoing personality, excellent writing skills, strong organizational skills and an entrepreneurial spirit who is ready to dive in. This position will work on a close-knit team to support the President with managing a variety of clients in writing, strategy, media relations, media training and social media support.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

·      Balance multiple clients in varying industries from non-profit, consumer goods and B2B to ensure all communications align with the mission, vision, values and goals of each client

·      Cultivate relationships with both consumer and trade media to achieve targeted coverage for multiple client accounts  

·      Conduct media training and interview preparation with clients to guarantee public presentation and messaging are on brand and appropriate for mass audiences

·      Communicate with clients and media about new initiatives and the status of media pieces

·      Research, compile and manage coverage reports and status documents

·      Research, draft and edit press releases, pitches and bylined articles ensuring all materials are in accordance with Associated Press (AP) style 

·      Administrative tasks as necessary – creating agendas and status reports, scheduling

·      Engage in efforts that promote Schuler Publicity

SKILLS:

●      Exceptional organization – able to balance a wide variety of projects

●      Excellent writing– able to write pitches and social media posts

●      Time management– able to manage hard deadlines

●      Flexible, go-with-the-flow nature – ability to work on multiple projects at once, able to switch gears at a moment’s notice

●      Professional presentation – demonstrates excellent telephone manner and effective presentation skills

●      Solid understanding of technology – needs to be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms (FB, Insta, X,) and able to learn new software programs rapidly

●      Strong interpersonal skills – needs to communicate effectively and professionally and be able to quickly build rapport with a variety of people

●      Self-motivated – needs to show initiative and works reliably and independently without constant supervision

●      Intellectually curious – stays on top of current new trends and able to dig in and research for client background, pitches, media lists, etc.

 

EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, or a related field. 2-5 years of post-college experience in a professional communication role.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

●      40 hours a week

●      Hybrid. Will work Tuesday - Thursday in NorthLoop office in Minneapolis, MN. Work from home on Mondays and Fridays.

●      Salary Range of $48K-60K depending on experience

●      Health and dental insurance if required after 3 months
